Privacy Policy

Me&You is a private place to reflect on your relationships with the help of Maya, an AI. What you tell it is personal, so this policy is written to be read, not skimmed past. It explains what we collect, why, who helps us process it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.

"Me&You," "we" and "us" mean Me&You AI, Inc., 5965 Village Way E105-206, San Diego, CA 92130, United States. This policy covers the Me&You iOS app and meandyou.ai.

The short version

• We use what you share to run Me&You for you: Maya's replies, your timelines, notes and insights. That's it.
• We don't sell your information, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.
• To write Maya's replies, we send the relevant parts of your conversation to Anthropic, our AI provider. Anthropic doesn't use it to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days (longer only for content its safety systems flag).
• You can delete your account, and everything in it, from Settings at any time.

1. What we collect

What you give us

• Account details. Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive a sign-in identifier, your email address (with Apple, this may be a private relay address) and the name you choose to share. We never receive your contacts or a friends list.
• Profile. Your name and, if you add them, a photo and other details about yourself. If we ask for your birthday, we use it to confirm you're 18 or older and to show your age.
• What you share with Maya. Your messages, and any screenshots or images you send.
• What you save in the app. The people you add (names, photos, relationship details), and your moments, plans, notes, Thoughts, Reflections and the items you heart.
• Feedback. The thumbs up or down you give a reply, and any note you write with it.

What Maya creates for you

From what you share, Me&You creates replies, summaries, timelines, Maya's Reads, Patterns, your Archetype, and other insights. To respond to you with care, Maya also keeps internal notes about how you tend to talk about and handle relationships. These aren't shown as a profile, and they're used only to shape Maya's responses to you.

What's collected automatically

• Your phone's time zone (for example "America/Los_Angeles"), so dates and reminders are right for you.
• Usage events. Records of what happened, such as a message sent, a screen opened or a sign-in. They are tied to your account and contain no message content. We use them to keep the service reliable and to understand how it's used.
• Anonymous analytics through PostHog: screen views, app opens and closes, and basic device information (model, operating system, app version). They aren't linked to your name, email or account. PostHog may estimate a rough location (such as country or city) from your IP address.
• Crash reports through Sentry: when the app fails, a technical report of what went wrong, with device and operating system details. They aren't linked to your account and contain no message content.

What we don't collect

The app doesn't ask for your location, contacts or microphone, and we don't track your location. If we later ask for it, it will be optional, and we'll use it only to save an approximate city, region and country. We don't use advertising identifiers. We don't buy or receive information about you from data brokers, advertisers or other outside sources.

Information that may be sensitive

Because Me&You is about relationships, what you share may include your sex life or sexual orientation, your health, experiences of harm, and other sensitive information, about you or about other people. We use it only to provide Me&You to you, as described in this policy, and never for advertising.

2. Information about other people

When you tell Maya about someone, or add them, Me&You stores what you share about them. That can include their name, a photo, details, screenshots of your conversations with them, and the insights Maya draws. These people aren't Me&You users through your account, can't see what you've written, and we never contact them.

Please share only what you're comfortable keeping in a private journal, and only what you have the right to share. Removing a person removes them from your app.

3. How we use your information

• To provide Me&You: to write Maya's replies, organise what you share into people, timelines and notes, and create Reads, Patterns and other insights for you.
• To keep it working and safe: to fix problems, prevent abuse, protect accounts and investigate security or reliability issues.
• To improve it: to understand, in aggregate, which features are used and where the app fails. When you send feedback on a reply, we may read that conversation to improve Maya.
• To communicate with you: sign-in codes and replies to messages you send us. We don't send marketing email.
• To meet legal obligations.

We don't use your conversations to train AI models, and we don't let our providers do so.

4. Who we share it with

We share information only with the providers that run Me&You for us, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the company, in which case this policy continues to apply to your information.

We don't sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Who at Me&You can see your content. We don't routinely read your conversations. A small number of authorised people may access specific content to provide support you ask for, investigate a security or reliability problem, review a reply you sent feedback on, or comply with the law. That access is limited to what the task needs.

5. How long we keep it

6. Deleting your account

Go to Settings → Account → Delete account and confirm with a code sent to your email. Your account is locked at once, and everything in it is deleted automatically, usually within an hour:

• your profile, messages, people, photos, notes, moments, plans, Thoughts, Reflections and insights;
• your sign-in.

We keep only a minimal record that a deletion happened, with none of your content. Copies in backups disappear as backups are overwritten. We don't send a confirmation email.

Logging out or deleting the app doesn't delete your account.

7. Your choices and rights

• See and edit: everything you've saved is visible in the app, and you can edit or delete it there.
• AI processing: Maya needs Anthropic to reply, so every message you send Maya is processed as described in section 4. If you don't want that, don't send messages, and you can delete your account at any time.
• Delete: a single item in the app, or your whole account (section 6).
• Get a copy: email support@meandyou.ai and we'll send you a copy of your data.
• Other requests: email support@meandyou.ai.

Depending on where you live (including California and other US states), you may have the right to:

• know what we collect;
• access, correct or delete it, or get a copy;
• limit the use of sensitive information;
• appeal our decision on your request.

You have these rights whether or not your state requires them; just email us. We'll confirm the request comes from you (usually by replying to the email address on your account) and respond within the time the law allows. You can use an authorised agent with your written permission. We won't treat you differently for using your rights. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision; if your appeal is denied, you can contact your state attorney general.

California. Over the past 12 months:

• Categories we've collected: identifiers (email, account ID); personal characteristics you choose to share (such as age, gender, sexual orientation); app activity; images; inferences (the insights in section 1); and sensitive personal information as described in section 1.
• How we used and disclosed them: to the providers in section 4, for the purposes in section 3.
• No sale or sharing: we don't sell or "share" personal information as California law defines it.
• Sensitive information: we use it only to provide the service you asked for.

8. Security

We protect your information with:

• encryption in transit;
• access controls that keep each account's data separate;
• photos and screenshots kept in private storage that only your signed-in app can open, through links that expire;
• limited staff access.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

9. Age

Me&You is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn we have, we'll delete the account. If you believe a minor is using Me&You, email support@meandyou.ai.

10. Where your information is processed

Me&You is run from the United States, and your information is stored and processed there by us and our providers.

11. Changes to this policy

When we make a material change, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect, and update the version and date above.
